PAGE INTERFACE – I actually like turning pages on the Kindle much better than I do on the iPad. While the iPad has a cool page turning visual (it looks like the page is actually turning), the touch screen is far too sensitive and there is very little edge around the screen to hold on to. The result is that I’m constantly turning pages on the iPad when i don’t want to. Kindle’s buttons win this one hands down.

PRICE – Kindle and the iPad simply aren’t that far apart. If a hundred bucks is going to break the budget, stick with the Kindle because it is an excellent reader. If you can afford a little more, go with the iPad… it just is much more versatile. If the Kindle DX were a couple of hundred bucks less, it would be a great reading bargain.

SEX APPEAL – ok, when the Kindle was first introduced, it was a hot item. I couldn’t read it at the airport without being interrupted at least a few times by people asking what it was and waning to look at it. Same thing with the iPad, only it’s exponentially hotter. With it’s sleek design, excellent color display and tons of Apps, people just go nuts asking questions. In short, it just generates a lot of interest and this is proven by the fact that Apple has already sold over a million of these things during the first month of availability. I think this is a fantastic netbook. I played with several others but they all felt very cheap to me and their keyboards especially felt like toys. The Toshiba definitely is a smaller keyboard so is not as nice to type on as a full-sized laptop keyboard, but it is the best I saw on a netbook and is very usable with a little getting used to. I bought this Toshiba for my mom who loves it. We have an older Lenovo widescreen laptop that is pretty large, but my mom loves how small and light the netbook is and brings it to the table every morning while she reads the paper and has coffee. She still uses the Lenovo for typing long emails, but everything else she now does on the netbook. Keep in mind that it comes with Vista Starter edition, which is fairly limited in terms of functionality. My main complaint is that she wanted to change the background and Starter edition doesn’t allow you to do this (although there are several small programs that allow you to do this, but they must run in the background..normally only consuming less than 1mb of RAM).

The mouse touch pad is also very large on this Toshiba, bigger than the average laptop. Some of the other netbooks had these raised dots on the touch pad that was an interesting idea, but I just didn’t like the feel of it.

I would definitely recommend the Toshiba, and based on what else I saw out there right now, this is definitely my favorite…(Click to see more…)

I now have been using my iPad for two days. It has gone through a full day workout with my kids (who are enthralled by it) and a full day of work as an itinerant professional in the public schools, using apps that I had purchased for my iPod Touch and using the Netflix app. It has been used as a remote desktop for work; a note taking device; a book reader; a word processing device; and a music player. The only thing it has not yet been used for is games. Movies look impressive on Netflix. As a remote desktop, it runs fairly zippy on a local network, but a tad slow over the Internet. All of my iPod Touch apps run fast, although half of them look somewhat granular in 2X mode. Pages runs really well and opens all of my templates. Someone had commented that it messes up formatting when transferring between files, although this has not been the case with me. Regarding weight, it is lighter than I thought. I can easily whip it out of my carrying case and jot a quick note in the hall. The wifi reception rivals my MacBook. I have yet to drain the battery to check battery life. Overall, it has performed impressively. The only negative thing right now is the fingerprints when the iPad is off. It can look really dirty and I find myself cleaning it often.(Click to see more…)

This was my first flat screen purchase so I did a lot of research. It paid off because this is a really nice looking set with a beautiful, crisp picture. Haven’t gotten a blu- ray player yet but I’m still stunned by the crispness of the picture at 720p. Previous reviewers claimed I would not be able to tell the difference on a 50″ set between 720 and 1080 and I have to agree. So the roughly $600 savings i gained on purchasing this set gives me a cushion for the next generation, 3d set I’ll probably buy in 3 yrs or so. By the way, the sound is very good as well. Love the pots and pans. The silicone handles don’t get hot and it looks very nice. Cleans very easy and the price is fantastic! No matter where I shopped I couldn’t find a better deal than Amazon. Now the down side, When I recieved the pots, on the dutch oven there was a manufactures defect on the bottom of the pot. The shinny, ribbed silver part was incomplete and it had some pretty deep scratches on it. I called the number provided in the Farberware box as directed by farberware and customer service so rudley told me they wont deal with it. Even though it was a manufactures defect, farberware won’t honor thier warranty because I got the set off Amazon and they don’t carry that set as an open stock item. So now I have to ship the entire package back to amazon to get a replacement of only the dutch oven. Amazon’s customer service was great, farberwares on the other hand needs a whole lot of improvement.
